The new Heineken beer factory – one of the largest in the world – currently under construction at Meyerton posed unique access challenges for the movement of Isowalls in the refrigerated section of the building.

Time efficiencies and safety were of paramount concern for the contractors and as a result Iso Projects selected the JLG 245-25 Liftlux diesel scissor lift from Eazi Access.

The JLG 245-25 eliminated the need for labour intensive scaffolding in addition to removing personnel safety threats. The Isowall panels weighing 500 kg were moved into position by placing the panels on the JLG 245-25 platform and lifted some 26 metres upward, enabling contractors to continue working in the surrounding environment during the Isowall installation process.

Mario Lopez of main contractor at site, Grinaker, said” The movement of the Isowall panels in this new beer factory posed unique height requirements in terms of access. Eazi supplied the only scissor lift of its kind in South Africa that can reach 26 m in working height, and with it price competitiveness and with good Eazi service on site we are pleased, not only with the performance of the scissor lift – which is perfect for this project – but also our choice of supplier”.

The JLG 245-25 Liftlux diesel scissor lift is the first of its kind in the South African market and has unique features such as:
• 24.5 platform height
• 7.5 meter long motorised deck extension
• Automatic self levelling
• 4 wheel drive
• 750 kg platform capacity deck extension

Haupt Beneke from Iso Project commented:” I have been dealing with Eazi Access for over 6 years, and when I requested a scissor lift and explained at what height it needed to be safely effective they sourced the JLG 245-25 and apart from being the largest of its kind in South Africa, it is perfectly stable for use at full height and also uses minimal operational space”.

The JLG 245-25 is suitable for use on any building and construction sites as well as at airport maintenance hangars, high roofing and warehousing facilities.

Eazi Access offers a range of access platforms and telehandler products and has distribution rights for JLG Access Platform and Telehandlers in South Africa. Eazi Access is represented in all major regions throughout South Africa.
